Founded by Valerie Gonzalez in tribute to her upbringing in Texas, often making tamales from scratch alongside family, the brand quickly became successful and widespread in San Antonio. On the company website, Delicious Tamales states that today it is “the leading manufacturer of tamales in San Antonio, selling more than 2.1 million each year, which translates to 70 dozen tamales produced every 2 minutes from its 30,000-square-foot factory.”

Focusing exclusively on tamales, the company sells a variety of flavors such as jalapeño pork, tomatillo chicken and cheese, bean and cheese, southwest vegetarian, and many others. Depending on the location, readers can also purchase merchandise if they find themselves enthused.

What Now Austin reached out to the founder herself, Valerie Gonzalez, to inquire about the upcoming location’s opening date, but she was not immediately available for comment.
