A new sushi restaurant is headed to The Grove, according to recent public records. The restaurant, named only as Sushi Restaurant 2 on the TDLR Filing, will be built up at 2621 Preseverance Dr in Austin.
Construction notes examined by What Now Austin detail a “2,000 sf ground floor first generation restaurant build out. With a 1300 sf second level for a commissary kitchen that is only accessible to employees.” The total space is listed as 2500 square feet (despite the 2000 square feet listed on the construction note). The job will cost around $1.2 million.
Corroborating the public records, a brief report in The Statesman states that “Tancho Japanese Restaurant plans to open in the Grove mixed-use development in Central Austin.” The restaurant will be run in part by partner Brad Van Otterloo.
While no opening date has been set, construction is projected to wrap up in May 2025.
