Quick Bites and Japanese Cocktails Coming Soon to Austin

A restaurant concept from Hai Hospitality, the group behind Uchi and Uchiko, is tentatively set to open in Austin this August. Uchibā is “Uchi’s izakaya‑inspired cocktail bar and restaurant,” according to the concept’s Facebook page, and will offer quick bites and Japanese cocktails.

Meaning bar in Japanese, “bā”, will offer an intimate experience featuring high-level service, design, and cuisine. The Uchibā bar menu features a selection of Japanese whiskies and unique cocktails.

For starters, guests can enjoy Yuca Chips, which is edamame jalapeno hummus, as well as Shishito Peppers. Hot and cool tastings are offered and include Grilled Scallop, Fried Green Tomato, Crispy Tofu, and Akami Crudo with tuna and cucumber. Snow crab maki, dumplings, nigiri and sashimi, and several Yakitori Grill options are offered: Tsukune Meatball, Wagyu Beef, and Pork Belly.

Uchibā currently has one location in operation in Dallas. The new location in Austin will be housed at 601 West 2nd Street.
