According to recent reporting in Eater the new expansion is a result of Try Hard owner Jon French reaching out to Radio co-founders Greg Wilson and Jack Wilson to ask if they wanted to take over the lease and equipment at the East 11th space.

“We’re in the process of doing a lightning fast remodel,” Jack told Eater.

“Being in the heart of Austin, having a small walk-in cafe surrounded by residential and that it had a full kitchen, which is something that we were excited to take on the challenge of.”

As with the other locations, eager readers can expect expect coffee, espresso drinks, cocktails, and food by the house concept Shortwave Diner which will serve up an “American diner food menu [that will] add more breakfast, dinner, and plated options” in this iteration.

“[Radio] East was a major step up in our cocktailing and I think that we’re going to take that even a step further in this space and make this a very tight espresso and cocktail bar,” Jack said.

The establishment is expected to open in late summer 2024.
