The Central Texas-based ice cream chain Rhea’s Ice Cream will soon be opening a Kyle location, according to a recent filing with the State of Texas. The store will be located at 105 W. Center Street, in Kyle’s quaint downtown area, next to Room 111 and Lala’s.

What Now Austin recently spoke to Kyle Mylius, Managing Member of the restaurant group The Tap Root, which owns and runs Rhea’s Ice Cream. When asked why the brand chose Kyle as a new location, Mylius explains, “We had recently moved our catering company to downtown Kyle. It was a little more space than we needed, so we figured we could portion part of the building for our ice cream.”

While the ice cream is currently not manufactured in Kyle, Mylius states that eventually the Kyle location will house their production center.

Rhea’s best flavors? Goat cheese & raspberry jam, circus animal cookie, and coffee oreo are the biggest hits and certainly the most unique flavors, according to Mylius. The ingredients, Mylius adds, are often sourced in Texas, and seasonal flavors hyperlocally, in the Central Texas region.

Most importantly, Mylius looks forward to being part of the growing Central Texas community.

“There’s a lot of exciting growth in Kyle. We’re excited to be a part of that.”

The Kyle location will be Rhea’s Ice Cream 4th location and is aiming for a Spring 2023 opening.
