The construction project will consist of a “take out food restaurant build out of existing lease space”, estimated to cost around $150,000 with a wrap-up date in late October.

While it is not immediately clear whether the restaurant will be an independent venture or another chain location of the growing Thai Express brand, it appears that the restaurant will be run by Tom Seneewongs, a member of the Thai Kitchen family.

In a 2013 profile, Mr. Seneewongs narrated that when his father Sintop Seneewongs came to Austin “here was not a Thai restaurant in town back in the ’70s, so he would literally take rice and fish sauce to McDonald’s and order a burger but wouldn’t eat the bread and instead mix the burger with the rice.”
“It was so embarrassing. But my father thought people need to know about Thai food, since people thought that Asian food was pretty much Chinese food.”

Whatever the project may be, readers can rely on Seneewongs and company to deliver adventurous, tasty, and memorable meals for years to come.

No opening date has been announced.
