“The company purchased a property in Kyle and is in the process of buying more land in Leander and Manor,” the report states.

“The Austin area is expected to be home to at least 10 Abbott’s Frozen Custard stores over the next four to five years, said Barry Barron, CEO and president of Southern Scoops LLC, the company bringing the frozen custard to the state.”

“We got excited about Abbott a couple years ago and believe that it is an outstanding product that will speak for itself. That is why we committed to such a large development agreement; we have a company that’s over 120 years old and has clearly stood the test of time and now it’s time that we bring it to the great state of Texas,” Barron said in an email to ABJ

The current Austin locations are corporate-owned. Barron said the franchising process will begin

“We are buying property and building freestanding stores so that the consistency is the same everywhere we go,” Barron said.

No opening dates have been set for the upcomin stores.
