What Now Austin reached out to Freda Cheng to inquire about this exciting new development in the central Texas food and beverage landscape, but she was not immediately available for comment.

Luckily, public records and local reporting at The Williamson Reporter illuminate key details about the upcoming establishment.

Public records examined by What Now Austin describe the scope of construction work as covering “Remodel of interior dining space, bar, and restrooms of the existing restaurant building. Installation of new kitchen equipment, partial re-cladding and painting of the exterior facades.”

“Clean-up of existing landscaping & partial new plantings.” The construction is estimated to cost $500,000, cover an impressive 7,500 square feet, and reach completion in December 2023.

Highlighting Cheng’s success at the helm of her Seafood Grille in anticipation of the new Freda’s, The Williamson Reporter notes that Cheng “opened Freda’s Seafood Grille in 2003 to provide a welcoming and diverse dining experience for the hardworking families and business people of the Northwest Austin community. The restaurant’s menu was designed around Cheng’s love of exceptional wines, fresh Cajun seafood, and Texas’ signature food: steak.”
