“We opened our first location during covid, in June,” franchisee Vincent DeMaioribus tells What Now Austin.“There were restrictions, you couldn’t have many people in the shop — it was tough, but now we’re onto the second one, in Leander.”

DeMaiorbus tells What Now Austin that the operation is run alongside his son, Joey DeMarioribus.

“He was managing a couple of Jersey Mike’s in Southern California and after coming back from school, he asked for help starting up a Jersey Mike’s restaurant. Turns out it’s really hard to get a Jersey Mike’s!” DeMaioribus says.

“After looking at several other concepts, he came upon Cheba Hut, which is a  cannabis-based brand. And though at first I thought it was a gimmick, when we actually went and tried it, it turned out to be one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had.”

So, when can local readers expect the Leander location to be up and running.

“We’re not real sure yet, but depending on the permit process, we’re targeting for about September or October.”
