Founded by sisters Reyna and Maritza Vasquez, Veracruz All Natural serves up fresh Mexican eats such as fish and barbacoa tacos, along with refreshing and natural smoothies and juices.

Describing the company’s origins, the official website states: “From an early age, Reyna and Maritza wanted to own their own restaurant. They grew up helping their mother in the family kitchen in Veracruz, Mexico. Starting at very young ages, Reyna and Maritza’s mother and grandmother taught them the ins and outs of the kitchen, and they have loved to cook ever since. They learned to be creative with their cooking while at the same time respecting the heritage of authentic ingredients and the culture they represent. They also learned the value of using both fresh and organic ingredients in their cooking.”

What Now Austin reached out to Lydie Joly de Trejo, Veracruz All Natural’s business director, to inquire about this unique and exciting project in the central Texas food & beverage landscape, but she referred us to Justin Trubiana, co-owner of Dee-Dee, a Thai eatery which will also occupy the botanical garden.

“We’re still in the negotiation stage of taking the property under control,” co-owner Justin Trubiana told What Now Austin, referencing to the land on which the botanical garden will stand in an interview earlier this month. “We’re trying to buy and develop this property, but it’s a long way to go.”

When asked about the challenges to come for the development, Trubiana points to the foundational obstacles he and his wife & co-owner Lakana Trubiana will soon tackle.

“We don’t even have water yet. It’s a ground-up development — we’ve been working on it for two years already. We still got some hurdles to get through, but we’re checking one box at a time.”

If all moves forward with the land transaction, Trubiana estimates that the new Dee Dee & Veracruz All Natural combo location won’t be up and running until “a couple of years away.”
